Should i move from California to Nevada college student?
I am a 21 year old college student living in Monterrey bay in California and I am looking into moving to Nevada, Las Vegas to be exact. I would move there with my 18 year old sister who just got out of high school so we would both be going to school. My question is, is it a bad idea? How long does it take to become a resident, so that we don't have to pay out of state tuition rates? We want to move out on our own, but the truth is California is too expensive, Nevada is more affordable and looking into it we would be able to afford it more comfortably. I have stable job, and I would transfer with the company. I have done it before, transferred within the company but here in California. I would greatly appreciate your responses.

Hmmmm heres a couple things. The Nevada College has to approve of you two guys/girls. UNLV i think it is. And from my experience i think Nevada is more expensive. i lived there for a year; then i moved back to Gilroy in california. So yeah thats just me though. It depends from state so you can be declared a resident. Most likely a year or so; but i may be wrong. and being in LV, Nevada. the state tuition rates are going to be fairly high.

Most states require a year of residency during which you may take no classes anywhere. You should have a very strong case for Nevada residency as you will be moving for a company transfer. You also need to register to vote, etc. in Nevada. The university in Nevada should have a list of exactly what you must do and may not do on its website or available from its admissions, registrar's or residency office. As you mention that you are working, you may want to know that neither campus of the University of Nevada offers a business major.
