Nevada State College --> UNLV Henderson

Nevada State College --> UNLV Henderson?
Why don't they turn Nevada State College into a branch campus of UNLV. Not a separate institution but another campus kind of like how ASU works. Seems like they could have better funding for more buildings, programs, etc.. and it would bring more prestige.

Answer 1 :
One reason may be that better funding is not available.
Answer 2 :
Nevada State serves a different population and has a different mission. NSC is a teaching institution, dedicated to undergraduates only, unlike UNLV which is a research institution. This means the experience for the student, and the responsibilities of the professor, are quite distinct. NSC offers smaller classes where professors know each student by name, and therefore have a unique ability to mentor each student. This is critical because NSC is an access institution- students need only a 2.0 to gain admission. This lower qualification (UNLV's is 3.0 or 3.25) is reflective of NSCs purpose, which is to provide quality education and access to 4yr degrees to a population usually deprived of an opportunity to go to college. And they are fulfilling that mission successfully, with drastic gains in enrollment, retention, and graduation rates each year. Again, because the mission and operation of the two schools are so distinct, it is not really plausible to have the two sites function under one administration.

Answer 1 :
Sierra Nevada College is a great College. But it also depends on what you are going there for... The college is great for snowboarding and academics. I'm hoping I get accepted to go there, cause my friends go to college there and love it.
Answer 2 :
For snowboarding yes, for academics NO. If you want to learn how to manage a resort, then yes, because thats the only program this place has that others dont. Other than that every employer will see this college as en excuse to go snowboarding while getting a degree. If you just want to shoot the s h i t and get a useless college degree like liberal arts which will not help you at all in life and waste your parents money, then go for this college. But if you plan on being anything other than a ski bum, then you should probably look somewhere else to a real school. This school is more for ppl that want to snowboard all the time and take a few classes here and there to say that they went to college. Other than the resort program, its a joke. You are better of going to university of phoenix.

Answer 1 :
Try University of Montana, Bozeman. It is fairly close to Nevada.
Answer 2 :
You need to look around. How many vets are their that treat wild animals? Easy answer. None or very few. And why would a vet want to treat a wild animal? You see the treatment of domestic animals, like your pets, requires the vets not to treat wild animals. In many places there are laws which prohibit a vet from working on wild animals. You really need to check in to this more. Vet schools are structured to teach and train students in small or large animal. Basically, pets or livestock.
