So I'm currently attending a magnet school that is basically ranked number one in the state of Nevada, I think. But it has no sports and I'm not very satisfied with the school itself. I was considering switching to my zone school instead because they have sports, more extracurricular activities and I would be much happier there. However, I was just wondering. When colleges look at application would they prefer to accept a person that graduated average in a high ranked school or a person that graduated top of their class in a lower, yet still good, high school?

Answer 1 :
they would most likely look more closely at a person who graduated at the top of their class in a decent high school.. plus you get to play sports which will make going to school easier for you... choose B
Answer 2 :
Top of your class looks better. Colleges also look at extra curricular activities such as clubs and volunteer work. Standardized testing (the SAT) also helps balance the differences between individual schools. Go where you will achieve the highest GPA and along with the other factors it will look better than a different school with a lower GPA.
