Nevada State College --> UNLV Henderson

Nevada State College --> UNLV Henderson?
Why don't they turn Nevada State College into a branch campus of UNLV. Not a separate institution but another campus kind of like how ASU works. Seems like they could have better funding for more buildings, programs, etc.. and it would bring more prestige.

Answer 1 :
One reason may be that better funding is not available.
Answer 2 :
Nevada State serves a different population and has a different mission. NSC is a teaching institution, dedicated to undergraduates only, unlike UNLV which is a research institution. This means the experience for the student, and the responsibilities of the professor, are quite distinct. NSC offers smaller classes where professors know each student by name, and therefore have a unique ability to mentor each student. This is critical because NSC is an access institution- students need only a 2.0 to gain admission. This lower qualification (UNLV's is 3.0 or 3.25) is reflective of NSCs purpose, which is to provide quality education and access to 4yr degrees to a population usually deprived of an opportunity to go to college. And they are fulfilling that mission successfully, with drastic gains in enrollment, retention, and graduation rates each year. Again, because the mission and operation of the two schools are so distinct, it is not really plausible to have the two sites function under one administration.

Is this college a good college for snowboarding and for academics

Is this college a good college for snowboarding and for academics?
I loooooooooooove Sierra Nevada College near lake tahoe in Nevada. The only problem is that my parents don't think that it is a good school. Does anyone know whether this is a good college or not? Thanks!!

Answer 1 :
Sierra Nevada College is a great College. But it also depends on what you are going there for... The college is great for snowboarding and academics. I'm hoping I get accepted to go there, cause my friends go to college there and love it.
Answer 2 :
For snowboarding yes, for academics NO. If you want to learn how to manage a resort, then yes, because thats the only program this place has that others dont. Other than that every employer will see this college as en excuse to go snowboarding while getting a degree. If you just want to shoot the s h i t and get a useless college degree like liberal arts which will not help you at all in life and waste your parents money, then go for this college. But if you plan on being anything other than a ski bum, then you should probably look somewhere else to a real school. This school is more for ppl that want to snowboard all the time and take a few classes here and there to say that they went to college. Other than the resort program, its a joke. You are better of going to university of phoenix.

Answer 1 :
Try University of Montana, Bozeman. It is fairly close to Nevada.
Answer 2 :
You need to look around. How many vets are their that treat wild animals? Easy answer. None or very few. And why would a vet want to treat a wild animal? You see the treatment of domestic animals, like your pets, requires the vets not to treat wild animals. In many places there are laws which prohibit a vet from working on wild animals. You really need to check in to this more. Vet schools are structured to teach and train students in small or large animal. Basically, pets or livestock. Answer 3 :
I forget, which is surprising considering she's a white girl. When a white girl goes missing, usually she becomes a household name, so I'm surprised I don't remember. Oh well, now she's as anonymous to me as the thousands of other people who go missing every year.

Does anyone know of Universities/college in Nevada offering majors in AVIATION?I want to become AIRLINE PILOT

Does anyone know of Universities/college in Nevada offering majors in AVIATION?I want to become AIRLINE PILOT?
I currently live in Reno and i want to become an airline pilot. As far as i know University of Reno does not offer that ): i just checked and I think UNLV does not have it either...but im not 100% sure, maybe i missed it. I guess my next question will b "does anyone know of states close to nevada that have Universities offering AVIATION" i would say california its the closest one to nevada...Utha maybe?? OH i should probably say this...Reno has some..I should say small aviation schools, but i don't think there good for me, I DEFINITELY WANT to attend college/university because its better, BUT I CAN'T FIND ANY IN NEVADA

Answer 1 :
I don't know of any schools in Nevada (or anywhere for that matter) that offer a 4 yr. aviation degree BUT the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) in Las Vegas does offer an aviation degree. It's a 66 credit course: The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Aviation Technology prepares students who seek careers as professional pilots. Upon graduation, students will have earned an FAA Private Pilot Certificate, FAA Instrument Rating and an FAA Commercial Pilot Certification, as well as the degree. Classroom and lab instruction utilizes, modern flight simulators and state-of-the-art aviation training devices. FAA Certificated Flight Instructors provide all flight instruction in conjunction with our community partner flight school providers. Students must meet all eligibility requirements determined by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration. To learn more about the specific degree go to this link: http://www.csn.edu/PDFFiles/Degree%20Sheets/AAS%20-%20AVIATION%20TECHNOLOGY.pdf To learn more about CSN go to http://www.csn.edu/ Good luck!
Answer 2 :
You're right... there aren't any in Nevada that offer anything more than an associate's degree (airlines require a bachelor's). Utah State University has Bachelor degrees in professional pilot and aircraft maintenance. It is also accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International and a member of the University of Aviation Association. Some other good aviation schools include Arizona State University, Mount San Antonio College, Purdue University (IN), and University of North Dakota.
Answer 3 :
Check and see if there are any other schools in the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) that offer an aviation major. You may be able to attend a school in another western state at reduced tuition rates through the WUE. http://wue.wiche.edu/
